Hathar
[Link
to Torsten's ancient web-site]
Physical Description: Hathar stands a mere 3'5" tall
and even for a dwarf, would be considered quite short. His broad frame is (for
most of the time) encased in Plate Mail, and a wicked looking curved bladed
axe hangs at his belt. A further pair of hand axes are strapped to his chest
and on his back is a rucksack containing his various possessions. A small polished
shield is slung on his right shoulder, ready for pulling into position onto
his left arm to aid his defenses in times of crisis. A couple of large pouches
on his belt contain small items that he needs for ready use and complete his
belongings.
Hathar wears an open faced helm and his braided beard spills down to his chest,
framing his knarled face. Although young for a dwarf at only 76 years of age,
Hathar appears older, his face weathered from spending many years wandering
the surface, instead of settling down in one of the dwarven holds in the mountain
mines.
Background: Hathar "HardAxe" Ironstone was born
third son of Wurrin Ironstone, the brother of King Dorn Ironstone. Technically,
this meant that he was "of the royal blood". In reality, Hathar was
a good 10 places away from the crown, and liked it that way.
When he first came of age, he took up a position with the Royal guard, and quickly
became a well known and liked young officer, his quick skill and strength with
the axe earning him the nickname "Hardaxe". As the years passed, Hathar
found himself more and more curious about the outside world, and when the chance
came to act as guide and bodyguard to a visiting mage of the white robes, he
leapt at the chance.
That mage had been Raspaldin, Kryllian's master, and he had come into the Dwarven held mountains to search for an elusive spell component (with King Dorn's permission of course!). During his stay, Raspaldin traveled with Hathar all over the region, both on the surface and within the tunnels and caves that made up the dwarven kingdom. It was on one such excursion to one of the higher and more remote mountain valleys that Hathar was able to save Raspaldin 's life from an attempted assassination by a wizard of the black robes. As a gift, Raspaldin enchanted Hathar's axe, and allowed Hathar to keep the Ring of Feather Falling that the evil wizard had owned. Hathar has been glad of the ring's use twice in his life already, but still is very nervous about taking it's powers for granted.
It was several years later that Hathar had rebelled against his career path, and had decided to travel the realms beyond the dwarven held mountains. One of his first destinations had been to the home of Raspaldin. It was here that he first met Kryllian, who was at that time a young man only just come of age and was studying hard to learn the mystical arts. Despite his terrible scarring, Hathar felt a kin-ship with the young mage, and spent several months getting to know him.
Kryllian [Link to Torsten's ancient web-site]
Physical Description: Kryllian is 5'7" and weighs about 160 lbs. He wears red robes with the hood almost all the time unless among close friends. He wears many pouches about him for spell components and the only visible weapon is a dagger strapped on his right hip. He has long brown hair that is worn to cover the left side of his face. This is done to hide a hideous scar from the forehead to the jawbone and the eyepatch that covers a mutilated eye. He suffers from monophobia (fear of being alone) and severe allergies to alcohol. He is a man of few words and is hard to like but is loyal to those who penetrate the wall he has built around him.
Background: He has 3 older siblings , 2 sisters and a brother
(develop however you want if you decide to use them) his mother died when he
was 4 and he ran away from home at 7. he suffers from monophobia (fear of being
alone) and has a severe allergy to alcohol( after ingestion, - 1d6+3 to all
skills, -1d3 hp, and can't cast spells , lasts for 1d4+1 hours or until cure
serious wounds is cast.) . At 12 he was attacked by a wild animal and lost his
left eye. he wears an eyepatch
and has a scar from the forehead to the jawbone. he also wears his hair over
the left side of his face. he made a friend at 13 (possibly another pc?) and
began his interest in magic. he began apprenticing for a local mage until taking
the test. he is a red robe with a slight chaotic bent. he is pretty emotionless
and doesnt have much use for people unless it suits him. he does need them around
however to keep his phobia in check and is a loyal friend to the few who take
the time to get to know him.
Thalin Stromland [Link to Torsten's ancient web-site]
Physical Description: Thalin Stromland rides high in the saddle (as always), presenting a strong and stern demeanor. Thalin sits perched atop a speckled gray light charger, wearing a suit of mail underneath a dark purple riding cloak. Across his back rests a large sword, on his belt, a dagger and a map case. He also wears a fine pair of black hose and shiny riding boots. His long brown hair is waving slightly in the breeze.
Background: Thalin wishes to become a Knight of the Crown as his father was. He has actively campaigned throughout his travels to become a knight, but still the title eludes him. His searches have not been altogether fruitless, however. His handsome face now bears the lines of many a bright day spent in the forests of Krynn, and many a starry night spent in the arms of various dusky maidens across the lands of Anselon. (This is his main weakness in attaining his knightly status).
Riverwind [Link to Torsten's ancient web-site]
Physical Description: Riverwind, called "far hunter", is a man of few words and quick action. His is an imposing figure. He distrusts strangers but is a loyal friend and swiftly helps a comrade in need. He harbors an abiding distrust of magic. He is extremely protective of Goldmoon and loves her deeply, but is filled with gnawing doubts about his own worthiness.
Background: Riverwind's family was cast out of the Que-Shu
tribe for believing in the old gods. When he reached adulthood, the tribe received
him back because of his hunting skill. He fell in love with the chief's daughter,
Goldmoon, and challenged for her hand, as is the right of any warrior. His quest
of worthiness was to recover evidence of the old gods. He brought back the Staff
of Mishakal, but the people declared him a fraud and sought to stone him. When
Goldmoon shielded him from the stones, both were transported away by the staff.
Family: Riverwind's family was cast out of the Que-Shu tribe because of their
faith in the true gods. He is now a member of the Que-Shu tribe.
Goldmoon [Link to Torsten's ancient web-site]
Personality: Goldmoon is pure of heart and gentle. As a princess, however, she is accustomed to being obeyed. She deeply loves Riverwind and has a strong sense of duty. She is charming, brave, and extremely religious. Although she is much in love with Riverwind, at times he seems distant, which makes her sad.
Background: Goldmoon belongs to the Que-Shu tribe of plainsmen. She fell in love with the shepherd Riverwind although she was betrothed to another. Riverwind was sent to prove himself worthy, but when he returned with the Staff of Mishakal, he was proclaimed a fraud and ordered stoned. Goldmoon tried to shield him with her body, and the staff teleported them to safety.
Family: Goldmoon is the daughter of the chieftain of the Que-Shu tribe.
Simanuêla "Manu" DarkShadow [Link to Torsten's ancient web-site]
Physical Description: Slightly build young elven maiden, which wears her shoulder long hair in a free flowing style, she has blue eyes, which seem to star into the soul of the person she looks at. She always wears a 2h Sword on the back, as well as a well made Longbow. She speaks with a light musical voice, which is more like singing, than speaking.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Background: Simanuêla was born as the 2nd Child of Cellanir 'el A'sanir a Qualinesti-Elfen ranger of some renown and Tamila Silvershadow a white Robed Wizard of High Sorcery in the year of 286 AC in the Age of Darkness in the middle of a very stormy Night which is still remembered by the Elves as the Night when the evil rain was upon them. But this long awaited celebration turned to a very dark twist even in this night, because of her mother went into a long suffering labor from which she didn't recover and died closely after she gave life to Simanuêla. Her father which was a very forgiving man, could never forgive her for this tragedy and always blamed her for taking away his wife while she was too young too die.
Because of his calling and his obligation to the Speaker of the stars, her father often left for long periods of time, to ensure the safety of the Qualinesti borders against intruders, be they wild animals or humans. Because of this lifestyle the responsibility of rearing her were mostly up to her fathers sister, which herself had 3 children closely to her age. The oldest son Rherundan was just 10 years older as she us, but he always treated her with just the barest hidden contempt, which she never understood why. The second born was also a male going by the name of Berginyon and he was just the opposite of his older brother and the same age as Simanuêla. The youngest children of her aunt was Jhemail a very young elven maiden (~5 years younger as Simanuêla).
The relationship with her aunt and heir nieces and cousins were always stressed and she often felt, that somehow she was shunned from them, which she at that time couldn't understand why. When the time came to start teaching her and her cousins the basic skills to survive and to find out how to make a living in later times, she came always up last when it came down to who would become assigned to this great teacher or that. So she got only the least training in fighting and none at all at anything else.
By her own she discovered a wizard who was willing to take her on as his apprentice to teach her the arts, after discovering that she had the ability to wield the powers of magic. Because this wizard going by the name of Karindon the Pure was widely revered as a great wizard and person to know, her family didn't approve of him teaching her and not the as they thought clearly better suited Rherundan. Rherundan himself was always jealous of this fact, not because he couldn't find a good teacher; he had a very good one, but he wanted the best, and Karindon was the best.
So when she was 55 years old (~10 years ago) one night when she was together with Karindon in his study, they were attacked by some unknown assailants and during the fight that happened Karindon was killed and she was left bleeding and barely hanging to life. They were found by her youngest cousin and he brought her to the city's healer and he was able to save her from dying. At the same time investigations were made and some minor proof could be found that linked her to the assailants. So as soon as she was able to be brought before justice the court about this accident were held. Her pleas that she didn't have anything to do with it went without any appeal to the judges, who were so obsessed with avenging the death of the great master, that they didn't wanted to see the evidence before there eyes. Instead they believed the evidence brought to them by Rherundan, but because of the ethics of elves (never kill) they couldn't sentence her to the edict Rherundan wanted to hear. They instead only declared her an outlaw and banished her from their lands never to return, if she wouldn't face the guards of the woods on penalty of death (e.g. in game terms that means she is a dark elf) and she had to leave Qualinost in the dark of night without any possessions, but the clothes on her and a dagger for protection against the wild animals.
When she left, she vowed to Rherundan that someway somehow she would get even to him, but he only laughed at her and said : "Right isn't always right. Power makes the right right". This was the first slip via the dark side she took, but not the last one.
After a cruelling trip through the forest of Qualinesti and a lot of times she barely kept alive after fighting this or that beast like Hobgoblins or Ogres she came to Solace looking for some way to survive and to come to terms with the cruelty dealt to her by her family. Here she met up with Deldarin the Scholar a widely known and respected Wizard of the 4th Order of High Sorcery of the white robes. This meeting took place at the time of the weekly market, when Simanuêla was so overcome with hunger, that she tried to pick his money pouch, but got caught by him later, when he figured out he had been robbed. He did admire the speed and dexterity shown by someone that hadn't rightly be trained in the arts and took her in as his apprentice to show her a way leading into the light.
She trained hard under his tutelage to proof him, that he did the right thing in taking her under and was content for the very first time in her life. One day he sent her away to get some rare herb that he needed for some spell he wanted to cast, which could only be found in the woods surrounding haven. Here she met up with Arcus Silverblade and he helped her to aquiver the herb her master was looking for. When she was ready to leave again she only did with great relundance and promised Arcus to be back when she had time again, because she really liked the time together with him. With this parting she traveled back to Solace, to discover there that in the meantime disaster had struck upon her life once again.
When she had returned she learned, that her master had been attacked while running some errands in the woods near Solace by Hobgoblins and had been found dead by some farmers the next day, when it was already too late to do something else but bury him. The town marshals would tell her after she asked them, that the only thing they could discover were the dead body's of 2 Hobgoblins beside him. She wouldn't believe that he was killed by just mere Hobgoblins and went to the place were he was found to look if she could discover any other clues. What she found, didn't really satisfy her, because she discovered the broken shafts of elven arrows beside the way were he had been found. She couldn't proof it but she still believes to this day, that somehow Rherundan found out what she was doing and used his influence to get back to her another time, and neither wasn't that the last time she heard anything about him.
After that grim discovery she returned again to her masters place to find out
she had left her as the sole benefactor of his inheritance to use it as she
saw fit. This included her Bracers of Defense and her Ring of Protection which
she still wears. In addition to that he left her all of his accumulated spellbooks
which she used to increase her knowledge of the arcane arts. She still has some
of his old books, but now is unable to understand most of the spells written
down there, because of her declaration to the black Robes. Also she found a
letter from him, were he thanked her for the time they had spent together as
master and pupil and tried to encourage her to take the test for a Wizard. Also
he told her in this letter, that she had to get rid of all her anger, which
she had thought deep buried within her, or it would be boiling over one day
to spell her end.
